then, like 5 minutes before boarding the plane we saw my mum's friend who, yup you guessed it, was going on to the same plane. moments later we saw this veteran Hong Kong actor and his wife. we were on the same flight.

as i entered MH 72, smiles of year 2005's best cabin crew greeted us. well, not too bad to start off a three and a half hour journey. the plane took off at exactly 9.30 am. i felt really comfy because MH 72 was a 747. you would not believe me, but yes i watched Cheaper By the Dozen 2. it was quite amusing for the fact that it actually kept me awake the whole time it was running. oh and Hilarious Duffus looked like the Wicked Witch of the West!

twenty minutes before the plane landed, i decided to pay the world's highest restroom a visit. when i stood up i saw Moon Yee seated like four rows behind me. i was surprised because 1. we're on the same flight and 2. what is the heir to Canon M'sia doing in the economic class? guess Canon must be making less that we thought. so anyway, the plane landed as scheduled and as it touched down i was excited to my feet. i mean this is actually my first time in HK. i've seen it on TVB dramas but now i was actually in it. cool!

as we were claiming our luggage, i was on a tight watch. it seems that the HKIA is like a celebrity magnet. but to no avail, i failed to spot one. we waited for like 15 minutes before the airport coach departed. when i stepped out of the airport, a moist gush of cool air greeted my face. so, that was what HK air smelt like. anyway the bus took us to our hotel.

HKIA is located quite far from the city centre, about 30 miutes driving time. the coach crossed one of HK's famed bridge, 'Ching Ma Dai Kui' (cantonese). sorry, i don't know what's it named in english. then we passed HK's port. let's just put it this way, the total surface area of the port is equavalent to about 10 Midvalley Megamalls. goodness, our Port Klang is a total shame! as the coach entered the city, i was amazed at the architecture of the buildings in HK. all and i mean ALL the buildings either homes or offices are at least 10 storey high and above. it also hit me that the hongkies take the term 'neighbour' too literal because if you happen to live there, you could shake hands with your neighbours when you open your window. no kiddin'! the fact that some apartments were over 15 storeys high, only suspended by four very skinny stilts and located at a hill slope tells me that you can be a millionaire even if you own a 15m by 15m piece of land in HK.

my hotel is called the Newton Kowloon Hotel. it's situated in Prince. i know it sounds weird but that's how they call it. anyway, after we checked in, we went to feed our famished stomachs. honestly, i was more that ready to fire back at any hongkie who would be rude to us. so, when i entered a 'cha chan teng' (coffee shop) near the hotel, i felt kinda tensed. i mean what else could i feel. i was constantly fed with stories about rude hongkies. but i really have to apologise to 'MOST' hongkies. " I am terribly sorry for the prejudice that i have brought to HK with me." i must make a statement here. They Are Very Polite People. not even the singaporeans are polite enough. the coffee shop's proprietor greeted us with a warm smile and ushered us to our seats. well, you might say that its because she might know that we're tourists but i will prove you wrong later.

anyway, after food we went to the Prince MTR station to get our octopus cards. it's a very convenient card. i works on MTR and bus ride fares, purchasing goods from stores and etc. first stop: Tsim Tsa Tsui. OMG! its a wonderful place to shop. we went to the World Trade Shopping Centre and i managed to buy a pair of shoes from K Swiss for HKD 200 cheaper. next we, went to Sogo where my aunt bought a pair of platforms from Timberland at 60% off usual price. then we proceeded to the Arena of Stars right behind the shopping centre to snap a few good pictures. we then walked across the street to the Peninsula Hotel shopping arcade. that was where HK's oldest LV was and of course we went in for a spin. boy were the sales personnels there polite even when we walked out empty handed. we also borrowed the hotel's toilet. we had a hard time finding it because all of them had funny names and we thought that they were names of the ballrooms. i also saw the hotel's coffee house that is famous for its extreme priced afternoon tea. it was also said that many celebrities go there for theie english tea and scones.

after that, we took a stroll down Tsim Tsa Tsui. we spotted a huge Giordano and went in. i later noticed that the Gios in KL is too minute to be even considered as the smallest Gio outlet in the whole of HK. this Gio is humongous. it has three floors and the collection was huge. i bought a shoulder bag. quite a good deal. then, we roamed further down the street and went in to this shopping complex called Miramar. there was this particular shop called 'i.t', its one of those trendy new shops that sold garments from different brands. the designs were marvelous and avant garde but i only managed to get a top there because most of the other clothes ran out of my size. but nevertheless, i am still happy with what i purchased. we continued to bum around Tsim Tsa Tsui and then later when on the MTR and got to the famous Mongkok. holy-mother-of-all-crap! Mongkok is THE place. i would say that almost 1/4 of HK's youngsters were there. the roads were actually closed down by like around 6 and everyone can walk on the road. that's just so totally cool. in Mongkok there's the Ladies' Street (similar to our Petaling Street), Handphone Street (many shops here sell handphones) and of course the Sports Wear Street. my fav was of course the sports wear. you can find any brand from Reebok to Adidas to New Balance there. and the best thing was, they were having a sale. but giving the fact that we were just too exhausted to shop anymore we just had a look-see and headed back.

after a nice bath we all retired to our beds.

Prelude

ok. now with the mid-years behind me, i can finally let a out a breath of relief. my life has been more often that not hectic since the start of SAM. anyway lets not dwell on in it. because.......

I AM GOING TO HONG KONG ON MONDAY!

goodness, i have been waiting for this day to come. but its kinda like an irony because the sooner it is the further i want it to be. its like not wanting it to come because in a blink of an eye i'll be back in KL on saturday.

belive it or not i have never been to HK. i have heard much about it, watched a tremedous amount of TVB dramas, seen it on entertainment news but i am still very eager to see the oriental pearl myself. of the things i know about HK, i heard that the hongkies are really rude people. not one person that i know who had been to HK, said that they are the least polite. it seems that they'll give you the if-you-don't-want-to-buy-my-product-then-get-lost look. and it seemed that it's not only in their eyes but they do diplay it in their tone when speaking. but anyway, its not like i am gonna be nice with them cos i am very bitchy when agitated. i am not exactly a nice person to be rude.

another thing i heard is that the hongkies walk like laser beams. now this i've gotta see. i find it really amusing to see people walk like they're in the Olympics race. according to sources they walk particularly fast when boarding the MTR. well, guess everyone's in a rush to work.

but there is one thing that's great about HK. the FOOD. just the other day, i saw on ASTRO a program that introduced some local delicacies in HK. oohhhhh..... glorious...... mouth watering.... they introduced stuff like curry fish balls, fermented tofu, egg tarts, dim sum (OMG this i gotta try) and the list goes on.

hehehehe...... i like food but most of all...... its SHOPPING!!!!!!!!!! hope i get some great deals. until then, bye-bye!

So Sick? THE DA VINCI CODE premier. woohoo!!!! just merely thinking about it makes me feel euphoric. been waiting real long to see this one. i hope that the director did a good job. don't wanna feel like i wasted ten bucks and 2-3 hours for nothing. and then most importantly, i will be flying to Hong Kong on the 29th. a great chance to de-stress by doing some sight seeing and SHOPPING!

oh, then right, yesterday horr.... my dad bought a new digital camera for me! new Sony Cybershot cam. been wanting one of these for some time. its really slim about 1 cm in width. 7.2 megapixels and 3.0" lcd screen. more importantly it has the double anti blur technology. the images will be crystal clear even if i shake my hands. woohoo!!!!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://ammopulse.blogspot.com/2006/05/so-sick-maybe-not-so-sick_15.html' title='So Sick? i didn't. it went in but only after i put up a hard fight with it. then when i opened my eyes with both contacts intact, everything seemed so clear and then the rest is not really that important.

then this morning, i spent like 30 minutes trying to wear my contacts. 10 minutes for each eye and the remainder was spent looking for my left contact that dropped from my finger. i scanned the whole toilet floor only to find it stuck to the mirror. so damn "tu lan". but luckly all went well today.

Tests

Well, nothing much happened to me in college, except for tests, tests and more tests. i just had my bio common test (ct) today. i felt kinda silly though, for being so paranoid about it. the questions weren't as difficult as i thought they would be. so tomorrow i will have my chem ct. i heard from my maths teacher that it is quite tough. so i'm not gonna blog much today, see ya!

Theory Proven!

now what did i told you? it's really just some gimmick to get more students to choose taylor's next year. if you don't believe me, go look at yesterday's STAR newspaper, page 22 & 23. they advertised on two pages. one page was filled with all the scholarship receivers' names and the other page read: OVER 1000 OF MALAYSIA'S TOP STUDENTS CHOSE ONE COLLEGE.

the funniest thing was that they congratulated all the top scorers. my, thank you very much, taylor's education group. i just can't seem to express enough of my 'gratitude' to you.

Greetings.....

hello there. do you still remeber me? hmmmmm..... what's taking you so long? wouldn't blame you since this blog of mine has been eerily silent for a very long time. so sue me. sigh... now that i'm in college my spare time isn't as ample as when i was in high school. everyday, i'll be busy finishing projects (LAN, bio, chem, ESL and physics). don't blame for being slow, because i'm not. date lines were and still are drawing close. with LAN, ESL and chem down, i've still got to battle it out with physics and bio. well at least there's only two left. i think now that this blog has been quiet for so long, i highly doubt that anyone will ever read this entry. i have made a promise to myself to update this blog at least twice a week.

so just an hour ago, i was in the multi purpose hall to receive my scholarship of RM 2k from taylor's. it was my first time seeing the principal since i was a student at taylor's. she gave her ever monotonous speech gabbing some shit about the loy family. apparently, the total amount of scholarships given out was RM 4 million. you might think, "wow! how generous of the college!" ha! caught you there. i or most probably any other ex-ssg student might have seen through the hidden agenda behind the RM 4 million worth of scholarships. you see, this college of mine is a seriously , mother f***king good money maker. i bet that this 4 million bucks is just like a tickle to the taylor's education group because they generate like maybe 30 to 40 times more than that amount annually. also this one lump sum is more like a long-term investment in publicity for them. i was proven right when the principal muttered some statistics on the number of the nations best students in last year's spm who are currently enroled at taylors.

my session was the first session. there is another session later at 1.30 pm. this is the big one because some deputy director general from the ministry of higher education is going to officiated the ceremony. and more importantly, the members of the media is also attending waiting to report this 'wonderful event' in tomorrow of the day after's newspaper. the pricipal's speech on the statistics is obviously going to be repeated. my, such conspiracy. this 4 million worth of scholarships is certainly worth while. imagine, generosity and top students, what wonderful publicity for the college. so, i can conclude that the number of form 5s this year who are going to enrol at taylor's next year will exit this year's amount.

damn that principal for saying,"how often do you see such a family (the loys) giving away such a huge sum of money for education?"

You Stupid?

i just watched one of the best films in my life yesterday. you might sound shocked if i tell you that the movie is 'I Not Stupid Too'. yes, it is a really good/sad/entertaining/touching/educating....... (and the list goes on) movie. i was so surprised that the movie turn out to be such a blast! initally, i did not want to watch the movie because i thought that it was gonna be a very silly and ridiculous movie. well, seems like i had my prejudice.

like 'I Not Stupid', it revovles around the same student/family theme. only this time more refined and serious. the characters are actually secondary school students. the movie started with a young boy telling the audience how he felt about adults. he said that adults (parents) only knew how to nag their children and claim that the nagging is for their childrens' benefit. then the movie proceededs on to introduce the two main characters of the movie Tom and Chengcai. Tom is the young boy's older brother. their parents are those typical parents that neglect their children because they had to work twenty-four seven. Chengcai on the other hand, is from a poor single family, whose father only knew to how discipline him through physical abuse. both boys are classmates and good friends.

the movie then tells the conflicts that the boys went through. well, i don't wanna blog much on the conflicts because i don't wanna spoil anything for those of you who are going to watch the movie. i just want to say that the conflicts, though seem very normal but is very unique in a way. as in how the conflicts were resolved. the acting was not bad too. well, all in all, its an enjoyable movie for people from all walks of life and teaches us family virtues, compassion and how to ammend a sore relationship with the right 'key'. three cheers for jack neo!

rating: A
Success Is Sweet

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh my f***ing god!!!!!! i scored 10 A's for my spm!!!!!!!!!! yay!!!!

hahahaha aren't you just proud of me? when i was waiting in line to get my results yesterday i was almost gonna pass out. my heart was beating at like 200 times per minute! i so damn scared and nervous. my mother being ever anxious went straight to the teacher's table and asked for my result sheet. she handed it to me because she was afraid to see it. when i saw it, i was blown away by all the A's. i didn't care who was around me and just yelled to her that i scored 10 A's. she hugged me and was practically in tears. when i saw her cry, tears started to flow from my eyes too. my feelings were almost indescribable. i was ecstatic. i was hugging all my friends and jumping up and down. much excitement was in the air.

i scored A1's in bm (yes, i know, so much for worrying), english, moral, maths, add maths ( like omg! i did it! how did i do it?) and est. my A2 subjects were physic, chemistry and english 1119. and lastly the only B3 subject is biology.

most of you might think that i am very let down by the fact that i only had one B3 and is really close to getting straight A's, but hey, a guy can't ask too much right? in fact, i feel really blessed to have achieved such a good result.

oh, then there's three straight A students. johnathan , shu shen and patricia. the best among them was shu shen. goodness, where did she come from, outer space? she scored 11 straight A1's !!!! good for her. the other two were a mix of A1's and A2's.

of course when there's an up there's a down. my friend darren had two B3's. one for bm and the other for biology. well, i don't wanna comment much on this because i'm afraid i might hurt his feelings. so i just want you to know that my compassion goes to you, darren, truly. then there's kezanne, she scored all A's except for IT. she was in tears too, only not because she scored 13 A's but because she got a B3 for IT. i do know how she feels as i have almost the same fate as her. but i just hope that she's not overcomed by her grieve.

to all of you out there who had scored good results, my heartiest congratulations to you and keep up the good work as this is only the beginning, we still have a long winding road ahead. to those who did not do so well, i'm really sorry, but don't be too sad, ok?

Holiday

today is my last day before my one week break. i am really looking forward to it. but at the same time i don't want it to come because as soon as the break starts i will have to get my spm results. shit! its only like two days from today. damn. i doubt that i will ever get straight A's, given that my bm and bio was a bomb.

<span style="font-family:times new other questions correctly either. omg, my bm grade is so gonna stink. then, its bio. i think did horribly for the MCQs. i couldn't answer most of the questions. for the paper 2, i messed up the first question itself and my essay wasn't informative enough. so there goes the A for my bio. and of course there will be some surprises in some subjects where you were so confident to get an A in. type='text'>Farewell

today my class had a farewell party for my maths teacher, mr yee. it wasn't much but as long it comes from the heart, i'm sure that's all that counts. so anyway, we bought him a cake from bakers cottage. its the nearest place we know that sells cakes. we did the classic surprise thingie by standing behind the door. we waited until he opened the door and yelled surprise. i am quite sure that he was surprised by. i mean after all he had only taught us for two months. we took a couple of pictures, ate the cake and called it a day. the cake wasn't exactly mouth watering though. well, what can you expect when all you pay is rm 48 for a 1 kg chocolate mousse cake? we gave him a card too.

mr. yee is a typical mandarin educated teacher that speaks funny english . he reminds me a lot about my first physics teacher when i was in form 4. he's name was mr yap. mr yee is actually a really nice person. though he doesn't really know how to joke, he really does try his best to say something funny when his lesson gets boring. we nicknamed him "the sleeping pill". on days when his lesson gets damn boring and we are really sleepy we would say that its a double dose. he possesses the same manner of saying some english words like mr yap. when he says zero it will go like zerow. just the other day when he was teaching us motion in a straight line he said veelocity and accelelation. some of us we snickering when he said that.

i heard that he had a better job offer, but he refused to say why he was leaving.
Finally....

finally, i got my new set of speakers and somemore ram for my pc. my pc was really deprived one you might say. now its different. its working fine again.

anyway, i'm really excited, because the oscars is really soon. like a few hours away!!! sometimes i wonder how do those celebrity feel during these few hours. are really anxious about who's gonna win or do they wanna display their designer gowns and jewelry (not for they actors though)? or do they just attend for the sake of the very, very generous goody bags they will receive?

my, isn't it so cool to be like them. i mean how often do you get paid to wear a designer gown thats sewn to kill and wear jewelry that's as heavy a your head? i read from this article, that apparently, the celebrities are paid no less than 500,000 USD just to display those gowns. most jewelers will also pay them a lump sum to wear those expensive jewelry that you and me could never afford even if we worked for like 500 years.

in addition, those who attend are given goody bags to take home. they aren't just simple doors gives that we normally receive at invitations. it was said that the goody bags would contain some of the following: designer watches, cars, trips, mobile phones, designer bags, washing machine and the list goes on. goodness!!!!! what is wrong with those people? giving away such luxurious items in a goody bag! i sure wouldn't mind having one of those. sigh... dream on!
class 2.9, you would have had the opportunity to see that scenario. quite shocked to hear my chem teacher actually apologising to my friend, the girl who did not bring to money (you would know about her if you were following my blog). she said, " thila, i'm really sorry for raising my voice that day, i shouldn't have done it." likw wow! she really did say that.

know what i think? my physics teacher might have had a lil' session with her about her attitude after my friend went to consult him. she seem to be a rather headstrong person to actually realise her mistake and apologise to my friend in front of the whole class. well, on the contrary, maybe he didn't see and she just really did feel guilty. well, its impossible for me to know unless if she spills the type='text'>Some Time Out

whew.... finally i have some time to blog. my common tests are officially over, for now. the next one's coming by end of april.

i got back my physics marks two days ago. did quite badly. 28/50 -_-. sigh...... i only scored 3 marks more that half. thats sad. i've always said that physics was never my best subject. yesterday i recieved my maths mark. boy was i in for a suprise. i scored 36/45. thats a 80/100. hahahaha.... i was actually quite proud of my achievement.

monday was my chem, yesterday was my bio and today i had my esl. for esl we were required to write and essay about 300 - 400 words. as usual i exceeded the ammount by like god knows how many. i just can't help it. i need to stop writing so much of rubbish. i wrote about the ways to improve english language in Malaysian schools. for my points i wrote that the schools can conduct events like "speak english month", increase the number of english lessons and set higher standards.

i practically offended malaysian schools by saying that their standards are below average. i hope the lecturer won't deduct my marks for that. she seemed rather pissed off today. dunno whats her problem.

speaking about the malaysian standard of english, i really do think that it is below average. most people tend to speak broken english and take pride in it. they hardly seemed bothered by the fact that their standard in english is much lower in comparison to singapore. i'm not pro-s'pore but we can't deny the fact that they are better at it than us. but then again malaysia is a typical third world country (like my high school teacher used to say), it is our lifestyle to be acuh tak acuh.
The Devil From Hell

who's the devil? my chem teacher, thats who. just earlier today she came in for lecture. i thought that she would actually go easy on us since it was already the end of the week. boy was i ever wrong. the moment i saw her, i knew that she in a bad mood. then she went around inspecting our "homework" that she gave yesterday, which she told us to do at least some questions. well we did some only because we were really tired yesterday after the maths test. she checked and one of us did not have the paper. she stared at us and said, " to those who don't have the paper, you have two choices: go photostat it NOW or disappear from my class!" i mean why can't she be a lil' nicer and more polite with her tone?

on top of that, after she gave us back our quiz paper, she said that "some" of us were not serious in class and if we want to don't want to listen to her we should get lost. she continued to complain that we lied to her, did not do her work and made fun of what she said in the lab yesterday. so maybe the making fun was our wrong doing but she did not have to blow up like that. wonder what's her problem?

oh, before all the lecturing she scolded my friend who handled the money that we earned two weeks ago from a charity sale. the women scolded my friend, a girl, saying that she was taking too long to return the money to those who bought stuff for the charity sale. why is she making so much noise, when we, the ones who footed out the money didn't even utter a single word? my friend explained that she only received the list of names and the things that they bought on wednesday. the following day we had a test and this morning my friend was dropped of really for from school. she was worried that if she brought the money along it would get stolen because her friend was robbed some where near her drop off point some days ago. the bloody women just wouldn't listen and my friend was close to tears during the scolding. sigh, i really pity her.

a few weeks ago, during a class meeting she told us that she's a perfectionist and she's already so old, she can't change. what the? i mean does she expect us to change to become perfectionists just to suit her? how selfish of her. she presures us a lot during class. you might call her a walking time bomb because she might explode any time, anywhere.

one of my guy friend, called jeffrey actually went to talk to my physics teacher, who's some student counselor. i wonder what's gonna happen to her?
<img width='1' height='1' think that college is boring. its really monotonous. i mean i go through the same thing five days a week. i've got to get up at 6 am to get ready. why so early? well if your college is in subang jaya and you live like half-an hour away i'm sure you would do the same thing. parking space at the college is scarce. i've got to reach there before 7.15 just to get a space and its not exactly near anyway. sigh..... college life.....

i really do miss times when i would see my friends everyday, now i hardly have time to even speak to them on msn. well this is life after high school. i never actually believed my mom when she told me that school life is the best times of my life. i think i believe her now. i certainly hope that my three close friends and i won't grow further apart because of this.
The Test

today, the worst thing happened to me. it was that darned feeling that i thought i had not felt since november last year. yes. that feeling of fear during the exams. this morning at 10, i had my physics common test. its compulsory for all SAM students. basically its just a test that is sat by the students once every three months or so. the feeling started to bug me since yesterday night. an old friend visiting you might say.

honestly, physics is my weakest subject out of all the sciences. in fact i detest it. but since i'm doing medical i have to take it. some policy.... -_- anyway, the common test lasted for about 50 minutes. the moment i saw the first page i was dumbfounded. i mean the first question itself seemed rather intimidating. and believe me it IS. the question was on projectile motion. we were asked to calculate the speed of a beer mug when it left the end of the table???????? i mean what kind of question is that. as if that was not enough, next we were required to calculate the angle of the mug just before it touches the ground. so thats like bye-bye to 10 marks. but thank goodness the following questions were simpler.

the marks for all common tests contibute 5 % towards our internal assesment. luckily its only 5%. well i have my math common test tomorrow. hope its not too tough.

<img width='1' height='1'
